Spouse: Kathy, married 1967
Met at: We met at the Potsdam Hospital – She was the Emergency Room RN who took care of me after a small accident. Kathy loves to be with our 3 grandkids (4th one due in October). She loves to cook, garden and do crosswords
Kids: Daughter Carolyn (50) is married to Gary and lives near Poughkeepsie, NY. They have Kaylee (16) and Christopher (11). They are busy looking for a vet medicine college, going 10/11 months per year with 2 lacrosse goalies and trying to find time at their boat on Wellesley Island in the St. Lawrence River. Gary is assistant lacross coach. Carolyn works with 30+ Hudson Valley branches for M&T Bank. Gary commutes daily to NYC for a financial firm.
Son Stephen (46) is married to Kelly and lives in Cheektowaga, NY. They have Genevieve (8) and are expecting another daughter in October. They are busy with G’s dancing and making dance recital stage sets. Steve assisted with coaching G’s soccer team. He still plays ice hockey (skated a few practices with the Golden Knights during his 1 year at Clarkson). He is into metal working and welding – just built his own forge. He finds little time for hunting but got a 6 pt buck with his bow 2 years ago. He works environmental maintenance (including Love Canal). Kelly is LewPort Middle School art teacher, part-time artist and loves the gym.
Animal: Dakota , our 2nd Chocolate Lab is well trained (Kathy). She loves to eat, catch a Frisbee or retrieve it from our pond at our Otto, NY cabin.
College Major: Mechanical Engineering
Career: Engineering – Cost Reduction, Control Systems, Projects & Maintenance. I retired after 22 years in Cost Reduction Engineering and 12 years in Control Systems Engineering for Praxair (Linde Div of Union Carbide before spinoff). I worked 6 years in Project Engineering and Electrical/Instrument Maintenance for Durez Division of Hooker Chemical of Occidental Petroleum.
Most interesting job: In Control Systems, my group applied the 1st CAD System and implemented the 1st Distributed Control System in a Linde air separation/hydrogen plant.
Spend Time: Kathy and I have our daily Tim Hortons dark roast every morning for an hour except Sunday. We spend time with Granddaughter G and at our cabin. I day trade regularly.
Where lived: Western New York
Interesting place visited: Kathy and I love San Francisco (Fisherman’s Wharf, Muir Woods etc). We saw our Nephew Ben as Fat Albert’s Flight Engineer with the Blue Angels on one trip.
Greatest accomplishment since graduation : Raising our Family
One thing you wish you knew: I wish that I learned to be more politically astute but that comes from the School of Hard Knocks
Favorite college memory: During our pledging, the Potsdam State’s sororities furniture donation to fill the Triangle bar room almost to the ceiling is memorable. If my memory is correct, Lynn (and probably the rest of us) got drenched in the rainy, wee hours of this event.
Favorite hobby: I still like to deer hunt some – luckily got a buck and doe at our cabin last year. I like grilling, gardening, cutting/splitting firewood, working on our equipment (home & cabin) and or course day trading.
News that stands out: Probably JFKs assassination. The snowstorm that closed Clarkson in our junior year was more vivid.
Friends anxious to see: Since I will not be at the Reunion, I will miss everybody especially the “Colton Kid”. I think that my GDI roommates provided that nickname to Ron.
Favorite things to do now: I try to stay active with previously mentioned activities.
